THE INIAV (hosting entity)
The National Institute of Agrarian and Veterinary Research, I. P. (INIAV) is the State Laboratory in the area of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, which develops research activities in agronomy and veterinary medicine.
It holds the National Reference Laboratories for plant diseases and pests, for animal diseases, for analysis of residues of prohibited substances, of veterinary medicines and environmental, chemical and microbiological contaminants and other parameters in the scope of food safety of products of origin animal and plant life and for animal feed.
INIAV also plays a central role in the conservation of national genetic resources in the animal and plant areas, through the creation and maintenance of living collections and national germplasm banks.
With 14 centers nationwide, INIAV's headquarters are located in Oeiras, at Quinta do Marquês, with an area of about 130 hectares.
